What Is 5083 Aluminum Sheet?
5083 aluminum plate belongs to aluminum magnesium silicon 5000 series aluminum alloy. In addition to aluminum, its main components are magnesium and silicon. Magnesium in excess of 4.0% gives 5083 aluminum alloy excellent resistance to deformation and ease of welding. With the addition of copper, the 5083 aluminum plate has a conductivity of 28%.
5083 aluminum sheet also has good hot working or cold working forming characteristics. But hardening can only be achieved by cold working. In addition, 5083 aluminum plate does have good strength, but it is not heat treatable.
5083 aluminum plate has higher strength than 5052 plate and has excellent thermal conductivity. In the tempered state, it maintains good formability due to good ductility. It is very suitable for welding and can be hardened by cold work. Because alloy 5083 exhibits excellent general corrosion resistance, it is used in marine applications. Alloy 5083 is particularly suitable for the cryogenic market due to its ability to withstand extremely low temperatures without becoming brittle or losing properties. Alloy 5083 is used for vehicle armor panels due to its high strength factor.

Physical properties of 5083 aluminum sheet
5000 series grades of aluminum are non-heat treatable alloys. Alloy 5083 aluminum sheet metal has the highest strength of the non-heat treatable alloys, but is not recommended for use at temperatures above 65°C.

Aluminum 5083 has higher tensile strength and yield strength than alloy 5086, but lower than alloy 5456. This is a solid magnesium-manganese-chromium-aluminum alloy. It can be hardened by cold work.
5083 aluminum plate belongs to medium strength, mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium and manganese, and the standard specifications include AMS 4057, AMS 4058, ASTM B210, etc.
5083 Aluminum Alloy Metal - Available in Sheet Marine Grade Tempered H116, H321, H323; Complies with ASTM B928. temper. o, H112, H32 specifications ASTM B209, and extruded profiles in various states and sizes.

5083 aluminum alloy has a variety of annealing states, and the properties of different states are also different.
5083 Alloy H321 and H116 aluminum sheets are commonly used in shipbuilding.
o, H32, H38 can be used in automotive and other industries.
The properties of H116 and H321 degrade when the thickness exceeds 40 mm. The minimum tensile strength is 285MPa, and the minimum yield strength is 200MPa.
The elongation of H116 and H321 varies slightly depending on the specification. Measurement gauge lengths also vary. Please refer to ASTM B928M for details.
The properties of the O and H32 states also vary slightly depending on the thickness of the sheet. Professional tempering F and H112 is also possible in 5083 - see {\\f85} for details.
Recommended minimum bend radius for sheet or plate of a given thickness, 90 degrees to the rolling direction. These values are recommended, but not guaranteed; the minimum possible bend radius will depend on the type of bending equipment and tool and its conditions.
